Help support your digestive health with the honey your tummy will love.
What is prebiotic honey?
Beeotic® Honey is rich in naturally occuring prebiotic oligosaccharides, that can help support your digestive health.
And what exactly are prebiotics? Well, they’re the bee’s knees (but not literally!). Prebiotics are natural, non-digestible fibres that ‘feed’ the good bacteria in your gut. This means your tummy can play host to more good bacteria and less of the bad sort.
Wondering how these prebiotics get into the honey in the first place? Good question...
Here’s the answer: The miracle of mother nature! When converting nectar into honey, bees add enzymes that have combined with their own unique gut microbiota, which just so happens to be the same as humans. These enzymes create the prebiotic sugars in the honey. Long story short, bees are just naturally amazing.
And hey, we humans are pretty amazing too. Through research, investment and dedication, we’ve been able to deliver the world’s first clinically tested honey that contains naturally occurring prebiotics to help our customers and their families support their health.
Benefits of prebiotic honey
So, what’s all the buzz about gut health? Having the right ratio of good to bad bacteria is so important for good digestive health. To put it simply: consuming Beeotic® prebiotic honey is an easy way to help support your digestive health.
As part of your daily routine consume 20g (approx. 1 tablespoon) per day. Suitable for children 12 months and over.
Bonus: With the same delicious taste as Classic Caplilano Honey, the kids will have no idea what they’re eating is good for them!
Does research back the benefits of prebiotic honey?
You bet it does! The fact that some honeys are good for your digestive health is no secret – in fact, scientists have suspected this for decades. But it’s only recently that human clinical studies have illustrated the effects of prebiotic honey.
Professor Patricia Conway from the University of NSW demonstrated these benefits in a world-first study involving healthy Aussie adults taking a daily 20g dose of prebiotic honey.*
The result: Certain honeys led to an impressive boost in good bacteria and a simultaneous decrease in bad bacteria. And these improvements only lasted during the study – once the participants stopped consuming their daily dose, the bacteria levels returned to how they were previously.
However, not all honeys are created equal. Capilano Beeotic® is the only honey that’s specifically tested for its naturally occurring prebiotic content.

So what’s the difference between probiotics and prebiotics?
Both probiotics and prebiotics encourage a healthy gut. They’re both good, but they are different.
A probiotic is a preparation of live bacteria often found in yoghurt, dairy and supplements. Probiotics introduce good bacteria to the gut.
A prebiotic supports and nourishes the good bacteria that’s already there. Prebiotics help to improve the ratio of good bacteria to bad bacteria.
