Proudly Local Honey

The Capilano Proudly Local range introduces a state-by-state product that proudly features a local beekeeping family, shares a little of their beekeeping story, and promises the honey in each pack is produced solely from beekeepers in that region.

We recognise that consumers increasingly want to know where their food products have come from. This new range allows you to support not just Australian beekeepers, but beekeepers from your home state.

We are grateful to our featured beekeepers for providing a window into the hard work they do to get Capilano honey to the table of all Australians and we look forward to introducing you to more and more of these Aussie beekeeping families.

Meet the Alt Family

Based in Glen Innes in the Northern Tablelands, the Alts are a NSW beekeeping dynasty. Jack has passed down the art of beekeeping to sons Peter & Tim, and many other local families, and now Tim is passing the trade down to the next generation. The Alts are proud to produce a beautiful Aussie Honey for Capilano.

Meet the Leyland Family

Based in beautiful Beechina, David & Leilani Leyland are beekeepers with over 36 years’ experience. Master beekeepers who share their skills widely, the Leylands are thankful for the diversity of Western Australian native flora which allows their bees to thrive.

Meet the Marsh Family

Based in Murray Bridge along the mighty Murray river, Nigel & Natalie Marsh have supplied Capilano with pure Aussie honey for close to 20 years. In addition to producing honey from pristine South Australian bushland, Nigel’s bees pollinate important food crops that help feed us all.

Meet the McDonald Family

A fifth-generation beekeeper, Peter learnt the art of beekeeping from parents, and industry legends, Bob McDonald OAM (1931-2020) & Eileen McDonald OAM. Based near quaint Castlemaine, Peter & Michelle operate a thriving family business tending to 1,500 hives and are proud to be passing their craft to their children.

Meet the Stevens Family

Based in Wheatvale in Queensland’s Southern Downs, the Stevens family are fourth-generation beekeepers who have supplied Capilano for over 60 years. With beekeeping in their blood, David & Rosie involved their sons, Jacob & Connor in the family business from a very young age.
